Tasks
Assignable work with owners and due dates, tied to the matter or client it belongs to.
Tasks exist so that the thing somebody promised in a channel has an owner and a date. They hang off the matter or client they concern, which means a matter's outstanding work is a property of the matter rather than a memory.
Status changes are appended rather than replacing each other, so the question of when something slipped has an answer.
Assignment
- An owner, a due date, a priority and a service type on every task
- Tasks attached to the matter, consultation or client they belong to
Progress
- Status updates appended as a thread, so the history of a slipping deadline survives
- Due-date reminders in-app, by email and by web push
- Outstanding tasks visible on the matter, not only in a personal list
