Document management
A private repository organised the way a matter file is organised, with history kept rather than overwritten.
The document store is shaped like the matter file it replaces: folders under the matter, categories for filings, evidence and correspondence, and a version history so the draft somebody overwrote is still there.
Editing happens in the browser through a full office suite. Nothing needs to be downloaded, edited locally and uploaded again, which is the step where versions normally diverge.
Organisation
- Folders created per matter, with the firm's own structure beneath
- Document types and categories covering court filings, evidence and correspondence
- Status and tags on every document, and templates for documents the firm produces repeatedly
Editing
- In-browser editing and co-authoring through the built-in office suite
- Every save written as a new version, with the history retained
Custody
- Files held in private object storage with no publicly reachable objects
- Every download passes through an endpoint that checks who is asking
- A replaced upload removes the object it superseded rather than orphaning it
- Client visibility is a deliberate flag, not the default
