Leave
Policies, balances and requests, with the calendar and the availability picture kept in step.
Leave is a balance, an approval and a gap in the calendar, and the three have to agree. Approving a request writes all of them, so nobody is shown as available on a day they are not.
The balance rules are deliberately conservative in one direction: a day that has already been taken is never refunded, whatever happens afterwards. A cancellation returns only the days still in the future.
Policy and balance
- Leave policies defined per firm, by leave type
- Per-staff balances, with duration handled in days or half-days
- Entitlement changes blocked where a record depends on them, rather than silently recomputed
Requests
- An approval chain derived from the current reporting line
- A status log recording every transition and who made it
- Approved leave written to the firm calendar and to availability
Holidays inside leave
- A firm holiday falling inside approved leave refunds that day to the balance
- The refund is recorded against the holiday, the request and the date, and can only happen once per day
